MovePlan are the experts in managing change
Chris’s role is based in the eastern US region of New England, leading a team that is supporting projects in the pharmaceutical, financial and education sectors. His role provides many areas for growth: more industries and sectors to undertake projects in, and the opportunities to expand into other regions and gain a more national and international outlook.
“I wanted a role where I could see a future, and one where my career would grow. After every interaction I had with those who interviewed me, it was clear that MovePlan really valued their employees and saw the benefits of providing clear growth paths within a supportive structure. I also came away with the feeling that everyone just thoroughly enjoyed their roles. Having worked here for nearly 10 years now, I can genuinely say that everyone has been true to their word, it really is a great place to work.”
Chris’s day-to-day is varied to say the least: from maintaining and monitoring resource scheduling across all projects, managing staff through the onboarding process to providing guidance, mentoring and training. From a commercial perspective, Chris keeps close to the client teams, ensuring they are meeting contractual obligations and running projects effectively and efficiently. He also works with his team leads to put together proposals for clients. As a member of IFMA (the International Facilities Management Association) Chris often spends time at networking events, meeting people and spreading the MovePlan name across the industry.
MovePlan has a genuine entrepreneurial spirit baked into its DNA. [Everyone]comes from a different industry background [so] that when we are working on the same problem, we have different ways of looking at a solution which benefits everyone.
Our culture has for many years encouraged a fully flexible working policy, which means that everyone has the flexibility to manage their own schedules while continuing to deliver the service our clients expect. The flexibility also extends to where employees work. Chris is often found sitting in a different site each day of the week. “I can be working from anywhere. One day it may be a coffee shop, the next a library run by one of my education clients. I love it – every day is different, I meet so many new people and it also helps me solve problems: seeing a range of different workspaces every week means I have continued exposure to the latest innovations.”
Chris’s team has dramatically grown since he joined, becoming one of the largest teams in terms of full-time headcount at MovePlan. Of working with his colleagues: “Every one of us comes from a different industry background, from fitness to construction, political and charity work. It means that when we are working on the same problem, we have different ways of looking at a solution which benefits everyone, not least our clients.”
It is a highly rewarding environment to work in. You can literally stand back and look at a tangible and lasting legacy of your work. It’s always a proud moment.
When asked to sum up his role and the company, Chris says: “MovePlan has a genuine entrepreneurial spirit baked into its DNA. We are all encouraged to find new ways of doing things, new routes to market, new approaches to a new sector. It is a highly rewarding environment to work in. When a client’s project has been delivered, you can literally stand back and look at a tangible and lasting legacy of your work. It’s always a proud moment.”
