MovePlan are the experts in managing change
Mike’s background in sales and account management led him to his current role as a Workplace Project Manager based in Arlington, Virginia.
“I realised that the skills I had honed in my years in these roles were extremely transferable. Whether that was fostering relationships with clients, meeting project deadlines, delivering and receiving challenging conversations, problem solving, adaptability or juggling multiple projects concurrently.”
The opportunity to join MovePlan as a Project Manager “seemed like a great one; it brought together all my skills and gave me a foot into this industry. The role itself was very attractive; a lot of room for progression, excellent training, insight into different industries and sectors, and the chance to work with some of the biggest companies in the world.”
Since joining at the end of 2019, Mike has worked on some high-profile projects including one for a global multinational that was a year long. An all-hands effort, Mike and his team worked with all stakeholder groups to deliver the project: the opening of a new campus consisting of two buildings, six and ten stories high respectively, and the transition of 1,400 employees.
“The scale of the build was incredible, not just in pure construction terms, but also in terms of visibility – it was high-profile, so all eyes were on the successful delivery.” The complexity of the project pulled on all of Mike’s skills and experience, yet also provided the perfect training ground.
“Every day was a day of learning and I was lucky to be working with, and surrounded by, the best. All the aspirations I had when I joined MovePlan came to fruition on this project, whether that was developing my negotiation and client management skills, honing my presentation skills, and having the opportunity to move out of my comfort zone, which really is the best way to learn.”
Within 18 months I was promoted and I don’t see my personal growth tailing off. I am still learning and progressing every day, and I have the company’s culture to thank.

What was it that attracted Mike to MovePlan? Speaking to him, he talks of having the opportunity to work across teams, across regions, across the US, and working with a cohesive and motivated group of people all with an ingrained willingness to support and teach others.
“Everyone is so helpful and willing to take time out of their day, which was so important to me when I started. It’s just part of the culture. And I see it at all levels. We also have access to all levels, including the senior team, which is great for visibility and progression. Within 18 months I was promoted and I don’t see my personal growth tailing off. I am still learning and progressing every day, and I have the company’s culture to thank.”
Mike’s team’s working backgrounds are very diverse which adds something special to the way they work together to deliver complex projects. “Our biggest competency is our people, which makes us different from many other consulting groups.”
His final word was on the leadership of the business: “Our leadership is rock solid. There is so much transparency, and in general the approach to our working life is to promote balance, wellness and personal growth. MovePlan places huge trust in its employees and is constantly investing in and improving life for its people. I haven’t experienced anything like it before. I’m very glad I joined”
