Held between 16th and 19th December 2019 in Sydney, the event featured a burnt Christmas tree, with the primary purpose of highlighting the risks and encouraging donations to help combat bushfire disasters.

Audrey joined other volunteers at the event to talk to the public, answer questions and accept donations.  All funds raised will go towards the Red Cross’s work in disasters, with proceeds going to its Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.

“Bushfires are a huge and growing problem across Australia. I’ve seen at close quarters the damage they can cause and the lives that can be ruined. I’m proud to be supporting the Red Cross and, in my own small way, giving something back to our community,” said Audrey.

In 2019 alone, bushfires in south east Australia have destroyed over 700 homes and caused at least six fatalities.
